DAILY BULLETIN FOR SEPTEMBER 25, 2017

 

Today’s lunch menu is breaded fish nuggets and soft pan roll or ham and cheese flatbread, sweet potato fries, vegetable bar, fruit and milk

 

Alacarte items are available only for students who have money in their lunch account.

 

There will be a late bus today.

 

JV football vs. Kingsland in Harmony at 5:00.

 

If you are interested in Art or Theater post high school, consider joining Mrs. Mathison for the Luther College Creative Arts visit day on Friday, October 27.  The visit day is during the school day and is open to all sophomores, juniors and seniors.  Come and experience art and theater in the college setting!  Transportation and lunch are provided. Please see Mrs. Mathison ASAP to sign up and register for the day or with any questions!

 

Any junior interested in attending the Minnesota Education College Fair at RCTC on Thursday, Oct. 26th should stop in the office to sign up and pick up a permission slip. The permission slips need to be signed by your parent or guardian and returned to Mr. Olstad no later than Oct. 13th. Over 100 colleges will be represented and are willing to visit with you about what they have to offer.

 

Those students interested in participating in a winter sport of basketball, wrestling or danceline-please sign up in the office by Friday, October 6th. Those signing up for danceline should put a checkmark for high kick, jazz or both.

 

The junior parents are selling yard signs to raise money for post-prom.  Cost is $20.  You can order and pay for them in the office.  Make checks out to Jessica Schultz. Order  by September 29th.  You can get more info about the signs on the junior parent’s facebook page.

 

Attention reading fans!  Ms. Nielsen has four great Scholastic book orders on the bookshelf under the pencil sharpener in her room.  There are superior selections for younger and older readers!  Grab a form or 2, 3, or 4, peruse the selections, and bring your orders and money in.  Orders will be due in early October.

 

Attention Juniors-ExCEL applications are due by November 17th to Mr. Chris Mensink.  ExCEL-Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership-is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, who show leadership qualities, and who work voluntarily in their community. Every member of the league is invited to nominate one girl and one boy for the ExCEL Award.  Nominees must:

  1. be a  junior in high school

  2. make satisfactory progress toward graduation

  3. participate in a MSHSL fine arts or athletic activity

  4. hold a leadership position in the school

  5. work voluntarily in their community

Attention Seniors - AAA (Academics, Arts & Athletics) applications are due to Mr. Chris Mensink by November 17th.  The purpose of the program is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the fine arts; to elevate academic standards and create greater awareness of League-sponsored activities and their values; to provide member schools of the League with the opportunity to participate in a statewide program that supports, promotes, and recognizes academic and extra-curricular achievements.  To be eligible for the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award a student must be a high school senior at the time of nomination. Nominations are limited to two qualifying students per school, one male and one female; have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the date of nomination; participate in League-sponsored athletics and fine arts activities; comply with MSHSL’s Student Code of Conduct.  Application s can be found on our school website under Activities - Extra Curricular Fees and Forms at http://www.fillmorecentral.k12.mn.us/page/2580

 

Hurry!  You only five 5 more days to buy this year's homecoming button!  The button sellers today will probably be Ian Shupe, Dylan Bothun, and Nick Distad.

 

Tomorrow’s Homecoming dress up day is Superhero Day. Dress like your favorite super hero, but remember to dress school appropriate, and NO weapons.

 

Also this week the cheerleaders will be selling bows, so don’t miss out and buy early and buy often. Starting tomorrow Spirit beads will be available for sale in the office. Black, teal, and silver for only $1/set.

 

There will be an NHS meeting tomorrow during morning activity period in the chemistry room.  We will be discussing the blood drive and the ditch pick-up.

 

The Roosevelt Club will meet tomorrow morning in Mr. Dick's Room at 7:30.
