A community education program specifically designed for families with children ages birth to kindergarten. Families meet once a week for eight week sessions with the following activities:
Parent Child Time: Children have the opportunity to play and learn with new friends. As a parent, you can watch how your child plays with others, and have the opportunity to discuss different tips for learning and development with our Child Educator, Parent Educator, and other parents. You and your child will take home projects you make together.
Parent Time: Share parenting ideas and skills with other parents while your children play and learn with our Child Educator. Bring any questions or challenges you are are experiencing to share in a supportive environment, facilitated by our Parent Educator. Gather new and up to date information that relates to your child’s development, and form a support network with other parents in the area.
Special Events: We offer play dates and special activities geared towards families with young children, including open gym times during the winter. We also offer family events throughout the year. See below for upcoming events!

My name is Sonia Bockoven and I am the Child Educator for Fillmore Central’s ECFE Program. I grew up in Harmony, graduating from Fillmore Central, and moved back to the area after living in Iowa for 12 years. Nine of those years I taught preschool in 4-5 year old programs or 3-5 year old inclusive settings. All people are unique and bring their own strengths and perspectives to our lives together. I love how children learn through play, explore our world, and share their energy and excitement.
My husband Kurt and our four children enjoy time outside as well as cooking and playing games. It seems the kids are always building, moving and playing! Reading and playing piano are two of my favorite hobbies.
I look forward to sharing and learning together as we help our children grow and discover more about themselves and our world.
