World Languages - Brandi Mayer
¡Bienvenidos! My name is Brandi Mayer and this will be my third year as the Spanish teacher at Fillmore Central. I have many exciting learning adventures planned for the students of Fillmore Central this year and am looking forward to continuing to meet everyone in the community.
I earned my Bachelors of Science in Teaching Spanish from Winona State University in 2014. While I was completing my degree, I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Spain, take a 2-week women's study course to Ecuador and speak at two teaching conferences; the state level Minnesota Council on the Teaching of Languages and Culture and the national level American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
After graduation, I taught Spanish as a long-term substitute at United South Central High School, Medford High School, and Farmington High School. Between these long-term substitute positions, I was also a day-to-day substitute for many other school districts.
I will be offering two Spanish trips this school year. The first trip is to the Concordia Language Village tentatively planned for March 2019. Transportation will be covered for the Spanish Levels 1 and 2 students that are interested in going. The second is to the Festival of Nations that will be happening in May 2019 at the Saint Paul River Centre. This trip will be offered to all Spanish levels. Transportation for this trip will be partially covered for the students that have an interest in going. The cost for both of these trips will be determined in the near future. More information on these trips will be given to students and posted as the dates become closer.
Once again, I look forward to the many adventures that this new school year has to offer. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about Spanish class or trips.
