World Languages - Brandi Rettick
I earned my Bachelors of Science in Teaching Spanish from Winona State University in 2014. While I was completing my degree, I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Spain, take a 2-week women's study course in Ecuador and speak at two teaching conferences; the state-level Minnesota Council on the Teaching of Languages and Culture and the national-level American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. After graduation, I taught Spanish as a long-term substitute at United South Central High School, Medford High School, and Farmington High School. Between these long-term substitute positions, I was also a day-to-day substitute for many other school districts. From Fall 2019 to Fall 2020, I was stationed overseas with the Minnesota Army National Guard 34th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade in support of Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve. This experience came in the middle of the global COVID-19 pandemic, which made my experience vastly different than that experienced here at home. This experience opened my eyes to even more cultures around the world and made me very grateful for everything we have. Once again, I look forward to the many adventures that this new school year has to offer. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about Spanish class or trips. |
