Science Dept - Julia Olstad
Hello! My name is Julia Olstad, and this is my tenth year teaching science in a high school setting. My career at Fillmore Central began January of 2012. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here thus far! I grew up in Rushford, MN and graduated from Rushford-Peterson High school in 2003. In December 2007, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse with my Bachelors in Biology, then received my teaching license from the University of Minnesota-Mankato in May 2010. December of 2015 I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching, which has given me the opportunity to now teach concurrent (college-credit) Anatomy & Physiology here at Fillmore Central. I thoroughly enjoy teaching this class each year!
My husband, Levi, and I were married August 2011. In May of 2014, we had a baby girl, Madeline Elizabeth. Then in March of 2017, Samuel Dale was born, quite unexpectedly in the passenger seat of his dad's Chevy pickup! Life gets pretty crazy with these two, but they have added so much joy and laughter into our lives. As for the rest of our family, we have a dog named Bo and a cat named Frank, both of which entertain us daily. Madeline also is the proud owner of a pony named Rosie that resides with my horses at my parents home in Rushford. This will be a very exciting (and often stressful) year for our family, as Levi and I recently bought land outside of Harmony to farm and to build our forever home on. We are anxious to see how everything progresses as the year moves forward!
My hobbies include hanging out with the kiddos, showing/riding/judging horses, being active outdoors, traveling with the family, cooking/eating good food, and of course doing a little shopping (preferably at Good Will stores)!
This year I will be teaching Physical Science, Biology, and Anatomy & Physiology. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
