Under the pandemic planning provision of the MN Human Services Licensing Act, child care holders are required to comply with the COVID-19 Decision Tree along with the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) guidance and recommendations for child care settings. COVID-19 scenarios are unique and each is handled individually following close consideration & guidance.
All licensed child care providers are currently required to follow the three directives listed below as a part of licensing compliance.
- Report Cases: Report cases of COVID-19 to the MN Dept. of Health (MDH). Minnesota Rule 4605.7070 requires any institution, school, child care facility, or camp to report cases of COVID-19 to MDH.
- Notification: Notify the parents/guardian of a child who is identified as a close contact of someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
- Quarantine & Isolation: Exclude/quarantine children & staff who test positive for COVID-19 and those who have had close contact with someone who receives a positive test result based on the Best Practices for Handling a Confirmed Case of COVID-19.
